As part of a new development project, NUBU has been commissioned to develop a parent support program for foster families caring for children aged 6–12 years with complex and extensive support needs. The overall aim is to improve placement stability and reduce the risk of unplanned placement disruptions.
The development of the new program will draw on NUBU's extensive experience in research implementation of evidence-based parenting interventions in Norway, including Parent Management Training – Oregon Model (PMTO) and Multisystemic Therapy (MST). The program will also be informed by current research on the effective components of parent support interventions for this specific target group.
The new parent support program will be an independent continuation of the Solid foster care program and will be developed in collaboration with professional expert communities and user organisations.
The project is funded by the Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs (Bufdir).
The procect timeline is from 2025 to 2030 and consists of several key milestones:
